When we skip count up by a number, we can also think of this as multiplying.
For example:
6 = 3 x 2
9 = 3 x 3
12 = 3 x 4
Now, skip count backwards. What do you noticed? Did you subtract the same number repeatedly? This is called division.
For example:
12 ÷ 3 = 4
9 ÷ 3 = 3
6 ÷ 3 = 2
